Students in Mrs. Peters' 6th grade social studies class did an ancient Egyptian simulation yesterday! The students were learning about the different roles of people in Egyptian society. The students used M & M’s to represent crops. The separation of the M & M's represented the labor that the peasants had to do to grow the crops. The peasants and the merchants then had to pay a majority of taxes to the most important people in the society: the pharaoh, the priest, and the nobles. One of the pictures shows the three most important people in society toasting to their rewards. We then compared ancient Egyptian society to our society today. What a fun way to make learning hands on!
