Mrs. Floro's and Mr. Schlea's middle school science classes competed in March Mammal Madness last month! This event is put on by professors at Arizona State University who match up different organisms - not just mammals, despite the name - and then have them "battle" using biological research (not real battles, but simulations). Students filled out brackets by choosing which animal they thought would win each battle. Lucas Elder was Mrs. Floro's bracket champion, while Bowen Ish won for Mr. Schlea. Congratulations!

Remember Pi Day from last week? Well, here are some pictures of Mrs. Cook's class celebrating! Students were provided snack pies to eat while listening to the reading of Sir Cumference and the First Round Table. Then they spent time completing a variety of activities including the Pi Day Bump game, Pi Day Trivia Sudoku, Circles Sudoku, Pi or Pie Word Search, Pi Day Word Scramble, and coloring pi pictures and bookmarks. Then they played a game of Pi-n-g-o to review circumference and area of circles, where they could win candy. Mrs. Cook wore an octopi shirt in honor of Pi Day, and enjoyed the enthusiasm shared by her students!
